It's amazing how few people remember the days where having to unlock a character was common, and difficult

Yea but there wasn't a way to just buy that character back then, everyone had to unlock it by playing the game.

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:06:40
and games were also made by far fewer people, and cost a hell of a lot less to make

Most of you nerds probably got 80 hours done within the first 10 days.

Still doesn't make predatory microtransactions ok, I'm sure they'll survive with their season passes and DLC.

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:10:05
Alright, enjoy games being bumped up to 100-120 on average in the next few years if this keeps up.

michfn2 . 2017-11-14 10:12:49
Now everything is a micro transaction

DeepBlueNothing . 2017-11-14 10:13:12
They're already that much with season passes and DLC that's not included in the season pass.
16 2
meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:14:17
that would just be a base/standard cost. If games were priced like they used to be when they cost less to make, today theyd be 120-150.

8 hours a day? That's rookie numbers

DeepBlueNothing . 2017-11-14 10:18:23
They'd alienate a ton of people who can't afford to drop 150 on a game, as it is i think this is heading the way of the 80s video game crash

Of course it is, more and more investors are refusing to touch this industry because no one wants to deal with a customer base this insane.

usersubbordercontrol . 2017-11-14 10:20:40
This is what we're mad at. Don't charge insane prices or allow money to be thrown at it at all. And their explanation WHY was a little dumb

Nah overbloated publishers who think they can monetize everything while alienating their audience is the problem. I don't see Nintendo or (1

Publishers like ea are only bloated because developers literally cant find funding anywhere else.

Minecraft or PUBG having any issue making money. (And yea PUBG has Microtransactions but it didn't cost a shit ton to make like AAA games)(2

That I agree needs to be worked on but there's still plenty of indie success stories out there.

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:30:29
how do you work on an unstable customer-base that no one wants to sink money in to long term without even more insane practices than ea?

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:31:17
Too many gamer justice warriors have been spoiled by years of dev attention, and think they know more than they do about the industry.

DeepBlueNothing . 2017-11-14 10:33:31
Again other companies and games seems more than capable of doing it without going so slimey. Yet you blame the fans.

Oh and I'd be able to buy the whole "video games are expensive to make" bull if I wasn't playing the same barely changed Maddon game again.

Michael7396 . 2017-11-14 10:50:23
I'm gonna say this, it's bad when call of duty feels like a more complete game now than most titles.

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:55:07
Why are you buying games without looking in to them?

meatbaby . 2017-11-14 10:55:42
Oh, ea can go suck a dick but this whole gamer justice warrior bullshit needs to stop, because its hurting so much in the long run

HurryOnUpMeow . 2017-11-14 11:26:20
But someone else buying a character sooner doesn't make your game better or worse
13 36
usersubbordercontrol . 2017-11-14 11:30:11
Kind of can. A) it's the concept of buying into power compared to working for it. "They feel accomplished by getting it, or being lucky"
13 3
usersubbordercontrol . 2017-11-14 11:31:21
B) worse players will get the different characters earlier, since they didn't play and learn controls but rather just pay and learn wallet

CheeseIsNaturesFudge . 2017-11-14 11:35:58
It takes literally over a thousand hours to unlock all the unlockable characters.

If it was a progression thing then fine. Like Battlefront II(2005) it progressed with the story. But in online everything was available.

It does actually. The characters in this case have stats (little values that determine how good they are) the game also has a ton of 1/2
